brown street fellowship About Us
From Our Pastor:
"In today's fast paced society, many feel that they must stand alone as they face the battles of each day.  God provides an alternative to isolation as we stand together as brothers and sisters.  Often we are inspired by very "unlikely heros" of the family of God.  Ordinary people like you and I are often the ones God puts in extraordinary situations. Come and be inspired by God, His great love and the ultimate sacrifice of our Savior.  I hope that you can join me this Sunday Morning at 10:30 am. as we take a closer look at the portrait of a disciple."

Senior Pastor,

This is the building that the church meets in.  It was the pride and joy of a dedicated group of people in the 70's.  It looks a little dated now, but don't let that fool you.  Brown Street Baptist Fellowship is a young, vibrant church with a sincere passion for Christ.  We seem to be blessed with an abundance of musical talent and a real gift for ministering to today's youth.  We're not a super-sized, high-dollar congregation where anonymity is the norm.  Our church body is  hard-working and sincere in their love for Christ, eager to share what we've found and welcome new members to our family.
Brown Street used to be called Shiloh Baptist Church.  It's almost as old as Wylie itself, dating back to the 1890's.  The original church was down in the riverbottoms just north of where Lake Ray Hubbard ends.  The church ministered to the families east of Wylie who couldn't get into town if Rush Creek flooded.  When the congregation outgrew that little church building, they moved to their present location just east of Highway 78 on Brown. The second building burned not long after the "new" one was built.  There have been struggles and adversity, but when  the church turned to God for answers, He was there as always. Now BSBF is ready to face the new century with a new name and a new resolve.  Come see what makes us different!
Todd Nivens is our down-to-earth pastor who sincerely believes  that the message he's preaching should be The Word of God, not "The Word of Todd."  Even though he grew up in a church family, his passion for Jesus is all his own, and he wants to share that faith in a relevant way.  While the service is quite contemporary,  (the band that is somewhere between Creedence Clearwater and Charlie Robison), the theology is quite conservative, with a healthy dose of family values.  Todd uses his extensive biblical knowledge to weave the Word of the Bible together with historical facts and modern-day life.  He says that if he preaches to himself, he'll reach most of the congregation, and we think he's quite accurate in that assessment.  Our church body comes from a varied past and wants to welcome you regardless of where you are in your walk with Christ.  Come visit and learn about God's love with us!
